شلوغ، سرزنده، مخروبه، دیدنی؛ صفت‌هایی که تصویر روشنی از یک شهر، خیابان یا محله می‌سازند.
متن آموزش
این دو توصیف از یک شهر را بخوانید:
A: “Yazd is nice. It's old and beautiful. There are nice buildings.”
B: “Yazd is a historic desert city, full of character. The old town is a maze of picturesque mud-brick alleys, and in the evening the squares become lively with families and tourists.”
هر دو درست‌اند، اما فقط B آدم را هوس سفر می‌اندازد. (یزد شهری تاریخی و کویری با حال و هوای خاص است؛ بافت قدیمش هزارتویی از کوچه‌های خشتی دیدنی است و عصرها میدان‌هایش پر از خانواده و توریست می‌شود.)
مثبت، منفی و بی‌طرف

modern، busy، quiet می‌توانند هر دو باشند: quiet برای یک روستا عالی است، اما مرکز شهری که شنبه‌شب «ساکت» باشد کمی بی‌روح به نظر می‌رسد.
صفت‌هایتان را ارتقا بدهید
- very nice ← charming، lovely، stunning
- very old ← ancient، historic
- very dirty ← filthy
- very big ← huge، vast، sprawling (برای شهری که پهن و گسترده است)
- very beautiful ← breathtaking، stunning
با صفت‌های قوی از absolutely یا really استفاده کنید، نه very: absolutely stunning، نه very stunning.

- It has a … atmosphere. — The café has a relaxed atmosphere. (کافه فضای آرامی دارد.)

پنج شش جمله درباره‌ی شهر یا محله‌تان بنویسید؛ با دو صفت مثبت، یک صفت منفی و یک ساختار از لیست.
بهترین کلمه را انتخاب کنید: 1) The market is always (crowded / cosmopolitan) on Fridays. 2) The building is (run-down / picturesque) — the windows are broken. 3) London is very (cosmopolitan / dull) — you can hear 300 languages.
