Studying alone lets me set my own pace. When I have to memorise new words, I can stop and repeat the difficult ones without slowing anyone else down. A group helps with a different task: discussing a reading passage. Other students often notice an idea or a word I missed. Group sessions can drift into unrelated talk, though, so I prefer them when we have a clear question to answer. Neither method works best for every lesson. For vocabulary review I choose a quiet hour alone; for comparing interpretations of a story, I would invite two classmates. The task, more than the number of people, guides my choice.
